# Set up Bounty Operator MCP

Help me install the official Bounty Operator stdio MCP server for reviewing code I own or am authorized to assess.

1. Download https://bountyoperator.com/bounty-operator-mcp.zip and inspect its files. Unzip it in a directory I choose.
2. Check whether Node.js 22 or later is available. In the package's mcp folder, install the locked dependencies with `npm ci --ignore-scripts`.
3. Show me where my AI client stores its MCP server settings. The command is `node`, and the argument is the absolute path to `mcp/server.mjs`.
4. I can use the local `bounty_profiles` and `bounty_check_inputs` tools without a hosted account.
5. For hosted reviews, I will sign in at https://bountyoperator.com, create an AI connection in the account portal, and download its private settings. Help me put the settings in the correct client config without displaying the token. Keep secrets out of chat, logs and source control.
6. For hosted analysis I will configure my own `OPENAI_API_KEY` or `OPENROUTER_API_KEY` in the MCP process. Do not ask me to paste credentials into the conversation.
7. Verify the MCP handshake and list its tools. Use only an innocuous sample for a local privacy check. Do not spend provider credit or change billing during setup.

The site and MCP share one free hosted review per UTC day. Operator is US$10 weekly and removes the daily cap; AI provider fees are separate. Local privacy checks and prompt preparation remain free.
